The best time to connect with your kids Is while eating dinner or In the car. Below are some of our favorite ways to get our kids talking.
At dinner, we go around the table and each person says their "high and low" for the day. We each talk about the best part of our day and the most challenging part. This Is a great way to hear about the positive things your kids are experiencing, as well as the challenges they are facing daily. It opens up great discussion.
On the way home from church, we ask each child what they learned In church that day. From there, we ask them additional questions and ask how they can apply what they learned to their daily lives. It helps kids to walk out of church and apply the lessons they learned Instead of just moving on to the next thing.
One-on-one time! We rotate and take each child on a one-on-one date each month. Sometimes the kids get to choose who takes them, sometimes we choose for them. But each time, we do an activity the child chooses and we make It a priority to put our phones away and focus directly on them. This builds great trust and connection.
Nearly Device Free Living! We are very Intentional at spending quality time with our kids. Whether It's playing basketball with them In the driveway, playing a game at the table, or playing darts In the basement. We allow our kids to have no more than one hour a day on devices (Including tv, unless we are watching a family movie).
If you want a strong family, It starts with a strong marriage. How do you keep a strong marriage? First, God! Second, connection! Below are some of our favorite date Ideas, no matter the time, budget or occasion.

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of our family. Help us love one another with patience, grace, and compassion. Strengthen our marriage, guide our parenting, and teach us to seek You first in everything we do.
Fill our home with peace, laughter, forgiveness, and joy. Help us grow together in faith, deepen our relationships, and walk confidently in the purpose You have for each of us.
May our family be a light that points others to You, and may everything we do bring You glory.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
